What is Manual S?

Manual S (Residential Equipment Selection): Following Manual S procedures prevents grossly over sized or under sized HVAC systems. Manual S is a Technical Manual produced by ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America). It outlines and sets forth the procedures for properly selecting and sizing the Equipment needed to heat, cool and move air throughout a home. “Equipment” can be an Air Conditioner, Heat Pump, Gas or Electric Furnace and other types of HVAC systems. Although this is a very brief explanation, there are many factors that determine the proper size of equipment to use.
